The government in the Australian Capital Territory is about to pass legislation making it legal for same-sex couples to get married in the ACT.  It’s an interesting step for an Australian state to make, although the Federal Government may attempt to override the new laws through the courts.

Enter the ACL, those wacky christians issued a media release called “Statement by Abrahamic Faith Leaders of Canberra” – that’s a nice way of saying the Jews, Christians and the Muslims.

Below is a copy of a statement of faith by seven faith leaders here in Canberra that was released today ahead of the ACT Marriage Equality Bill that is expected to be debated tomorrow. Whilst not organised by the ACL, the ACL welcomes the statement by the group.

Goodness me, so the ACL wasn’t needed!  Shunned by their own faithful!

Seventy percent of Australians identify with an Abrahamic religion – Christianity, Islam and Judaism.

Yes, 70% may identify, but that doesn’t mean that they all agree on everything.

As leaders of several of these faith traditions, we have gathered to share our concerns about the ACT Government’s proposed same sex marriage legislation.

These leaders do no represent the 70% by a long shot, trying to argue from authority that they simply don’t have.

We are concerned for the long-term risks of such a Bill for our society.

You are?  What are they?  Tell us what those long-term risks are?  I bet you can’t.

While affirming the inherent dignity of all human beings,

Except if you’re anything other than heterosexual.  You’d sooner sack anyone that isn’t just like you.  You’d sooner say that the love I have for my love llama is somehow second rate.  Some of you that have signed this media release think that gays should be stoned to death.  So much for dignity.

our faith traditions also affirm the traditional concept of marriage between a man and a woman as being for the good of the individual, the family and society.

Yes, I agree.  Marriage between a man and a woman is good for the individual, the family and society.  So is marriage between two people of the same sex.  Everyone should be able to get married. In your particular faith feel free to celebrate marriage in the way you want, and those that don’t believe as you can get married and celebrate in the way they like.

We invite the wider community to join with us in calling for the Bill to be subject to community consultation through the normal Legislative Assembly Committee process.

Oh yes, that’s it, it’s not enough that you think you represent 70%  of the population you now want the other 30% to join in and see the world your way.  Great way to show dignity to each human being.  And while you’re at it why don’t you call into question the legitimacy of the passage of the bill in the duly elected parliament of the ACT.  Find a way to delay it so you can start spreading more of your vile innuendo.

Islamic Peace Conference Fails Because of Jesus, Bernie and Billy http://www.brucellama.com/2013/03/26/islamic-peace-conference-fails-because-of-jesus-bernie-and-billy/ http://www.brucellama.com/2013/03/26/islamic-peace-conference-fails-because-of-jesus-bernie-and-billy/#comments Mon, 25 Mar 2013 21:57:23 +0000 http://www.brucellama.com/?p=3321 [SOURCE]

Sometime recently some religious nutters from the islamic faith held what they called an Islamic Peace Conference in Melbourne.  They invited international speakers and everything!  Some chrisitans were outraged!  How dare the muslims gather to talk about peace?  Everyone knows that they’re all terrorist and will bite the heads off babies just because they can.

It seems that the conference didn’t go too well.  Numbers just weren’t what they’d hoped for.  Cue christian fundies taking credit!  Oh look, it’s Billy the Peace Loving Jesus Fuckwit!

Since I have written several articles about the big Islamic Peace Conference in Melbourne, asking people to pray for it and engage in some spiritual warfare over it, it is appropriate that I now record the aftermath of the whole affair.

Billy the PLJF asked people to pray that the conference would be a flop?  And WTF is spiritual warfare anyway?  The god of islam is doing battle with the god of christians?  Thunderbolts and lightening… very very frightening…

The short story is this: thanks to all your prayer and intercession, the whole thing seems to have been a real fizzer. The numbers were nowhere near what they anticipated, and they must have lost a bundle of money as a result. None of their big name overseas speakers showed up, and the whole thing must be leaving the organisers with a big headache.

jesusgunSo in a god like pose Billy the PLJF extends his thanks to you, it’s through the prayers of his good little minions that the whole thing seems to have been a real fizzer.  Thanks to your bended knees the numbers were low and they must have lost money, and what’s more your fervent raising of hands to Billy the PLJF caused the organisers not just a headache, but a big headache!  Well done you!

I had to leave for an overseas engagement, so I could not join a small band of concerned Christians who offered a peaceful and prayerful spiritual presence at the conference. Their presence, along with the prayers of so many others, certainly paid off big time.

Seriously?  A bunch of christians praying paid off big time?  Billy the PLJF actually believes that through his actions he caused this to be a real fizzer?  His god can’t feed the poor and hungry but he can stop a bunch of muslims from having a good time?  I don’t get how that even makes the slightest bit of sense.

Then there was another christian do-gooder called Bernie Power who attended on the conference, another peace-loving christian embarked on a spiritual warfare, here is just some of the crap he wrote:

Free tickets were not honoured. We refused, saying that we had not come prepared to pay $50, since we had free tickets. We said that it was false advertising to issue free tickets and then not to honour them. Eventually a young Muslim reception girl had pity on us and spoke to her supervisors on our behalf and we were let in free.

Oh look at the jesus go!  He got the muslims to honour free tickets!  Woo hoo!

Muslim numbers were low: The organisers had hoped for 20,000 attendees, including 4,000 non-Muslims. However they did not achieve anything like this.  The internal visitor never applied for an Australian visa (probably due to this negative publicity), it was not until the night before that the conference organiser announced on their website that he was not coming. Consequently, only 1800 people instead of 5,000 turned up for the prayers.

That jesus must have told him not to apply for a visa.  He’s so wonderful!  It sounds like he was never going to come, you don’t just rock up to the airport, buy a ticket to Australia and get a visa with a cup of coffee.  It does take careful planning.  It would seem to me it’s more about bad organisational skills.  Did anyone actually ask him?

The other main speaker, a sheik from Kuwait, arrived but fell sick and was not able to attend the conference.

Jesus must’ve turned his water into cow poo!  Praise the Lord!

Muslims were disgruntled at the high price of the conference, expensive food and carnival rides, and the cancellation of some meetings.

See – Jesus made the prices high.  And just like the normal people, the muslims whinge and groan when they have to pay too much.  And just like a normal day out you have to take a lot of money for food and rides!  Who would have thought!

Eventually cold driving rain sent people home and kept them away the next day. Meetings set up to hold thousands were attended by a couple of hundred people. If the conference was relying on gate takings for income, it will be in significant financial trouble.

Ya!  Go Team Jesus!  It rained, god has heard our prayer.  All those years of praying for rain during the drought goes unanswered, but pray for rain on one weekend and the muslims get washed out and a significant financial trouble ensues!  He really is an all-powerful god!

Opportunities for Christian witness were high. Over the weekend, a team of 60 Christians turned up to witness to Muslims. The vast majority, by the grace of God, managed to get in free.

Well, that and the fact that they had free tickets.  A free ticket always seems to get you in for no money, you know, free.

Christians could be seen all over around the conference, making friends with Muslims, asking questions and sharing their faith in Jesus.

What all 60 of you?  Is this like the time jesus took a fish and a breadstick and feed thousands?  Jesus must have been so thankful to all those good little christians.

Sometimes conference staff would order Muslims to stop talking to the Christians and send them away. Despite this, we had hundreds of wonderful conversations about Christ throughout the weekend and arranged to meet up with some more open Muslims afterwards.

Ordered them to stop talking.  Wow.  You must’ve had them on the run.  It’s great that all 60 of you had hundreds of conversations.  All of them wonderful.  I can feel the love of jesus seeping through your words.

Some Christians got kicked out of the conference.

No?  Get the hell outta here.  So some of your 60 christians having hundreds of wonderful conversations had to go?  That must’ve hurt.

Because of their impact, the Christians came to the attention of the conference organisers. Some high-profile Christians were assigned Muslim ‘taggers’ to follow them around and intervene in their conversations.

Fancy showing up at an islamic conference to talk about christianity and being asked to leave.  How rude of the islamic types to find your approach a bit inappropriate.

On the Saturday, one of our Christian team, a former Muslim, rang me in distress. He had been giving out a DVD about Muslims who had come to Christ.

This is like going to a conference about milk and handing out free samples of coke and suggesting that it’s better.  It’s actually just really rude to do this sort of crap.

Some-one complained and he was surrounded by security guards and the conference organiser who were threatening him. The conference organiser (Abdul Samii) was rude and aggressive. We were marched to the Showgrounds exit by the eight guards, and told we must leave all Christian materials in our car before re-entering.

Well hit me over the head with a crucifix.  Imagine standing in a Woolworths supermarket handing out free vouchers for a Coles supermarket.  You wouldn’t be at all surprised if you got marched out and told to leave your opposition materials in the car before coming back in.  We have a word of this sort of  behaviour.  Inappropriate.

The conference organiser was hostile and insulting, saying “Get out! Shut your mouth,” to the four Christians. He told the security guards to escort them from the Showgrounds, and they were ejected.

This is what you get for pretending that what you’re doing is ok.  It’s not ok to get in someone’s face and claim surprise when you get treated rudely.  But you know, christians expect this. Jesus loves them so much that he told them that people will persecute them.

Protests happened on the last day: On the Sunday morning, a group of about 20 ‘Australian Protection Party’ protestors stood outside one of the Showground gates holding posters saying: “No Sharia Law”, “No Mosques”, and “End Discrimination against Women.” They abused Muslims who were driving into the conference. Eventually they packed up and went home.

Well yes, there’s a way to do a protest.  Don’t invade the space occupied by those you’re protesting against.  Wave your banners, have your say, pack up and go home.  That’s how lots of people actually do a protest. On public land.

Thank you so much to the many who prayed, gave or came so that this Conference would be a significant witness to Christ. We will continue to pray for Muslims and plan for other Islamic events that will be happening around Melbourne.

Yeah, you guys, you’re so brave.  I can seem islam crumbling after your great efforts!  Jesus must be so proud of you.  Now back to some closing words from Billy the PLJF.

Well done Bernie, all those who came to let Muslims know of a better way, and all those who prayed so fervently. All this demonstrates that when God’s people get serious and engage in concentrated and sustained prayer offensives, they will see great victories indeed.

Yeah, that’s it.  You christians praying fervently really works.  It’s great to see such a positive demonstration of god’s people.  It’s exactly the same fervent praying that has feed the world’s hungry.  It is precisely because christians get serious and engage in concentrated and sustained prayer offensives that peace reigns throughout the world.  The victories are huge!  This prayer thing really works!

Islam – and any other ideology or religion – is no match for God’s people when they take their spiritual responsibilities seriously and bring some substantial spiritual firepower to rain down upon the various contenders to biblical Christianity.

So, a small band of christians who have the audacity to go to an islamic event that is a flop are taking credit for what exactly?  Their impact is huge!  Muslims everywhere are throwing off the shackles of their women-hating, terrorist plotting faith and coming over to the other side!

Now that’s substantial spiritual firepower!

You go Billy the PLJF.

It seems that a bunch of Muslims have decided to build a new mosque right next door to a planned church!  I’m all for it, houses of religion should all be put in the same area.  Throw a synagogue in there too!  Oh and look, it’s our old friend Pasta Danny Nalliah from Catch the Fire Ministries and head honcho of the extreme right Rise Up Australia Party, where their catch-cry is Keep Australia Australian.

“We don’t approve of Islam as a religion but we love Muslim people. Islam teaches that those who follow other religions are infidels.  “It is a religion that doesn’t value freedom of religion. Having those same teachings right under our noses is counter-productive to our church.”

Luckily in Australia we don’t need Pasta Danny’s approval on the establishment of religion.  How stupid is it to point out that muslims consider other faiths to be wrong right after you’ve just said you don’t approve of Islam as a religion.  How bizarre though that he should go on to say that Islam doesn’t value freedom of religion… sound remarkably like the wet Pasta is having a bit of trouble valuing freedom of religion too.

He said that homes vacated by “fed-up” neighbours would be bought up by Muslims, creating a “sharia [the moral code and religious law of Islam] zone”.

So?  You do know that in Australia we have this other thing, it’s called the law.  If you break it expect to be charged and prosecuted.  People buy houses in all sorts of places for all sorts of reason, and yes sometimes because the house is close to their synagogue or church or mosque.

Here’s another in the long ongoing saga of Pasta Noodle-head thinking he can get some free press by whingeing about the muslims.  He really can’t stand atheists, gays or muslims.

Australia is a multi-cultural society, most of us get along just fine and we don’t need to worry about what religion our neighbour is.  Pasta Danny is out to cause extra conflict and to create a storm where none needs to exist.

I agree with him that the mosque shouldn’t be build, but then I don’t think he should build a $2 million church either, why not spend the money on something sensible, you know, like some housing stock for the poor?

Places of religion are a waste of money.  Seriously.

Circumcision and The Almighty Ego http://www.brucellama.com/2012/07/15/2951/ http://www.brucellama.com/2012/07/15/2951/#comments Sun, 15 Jul 2012 01:31:37 +0000 http://www.brucellama.com/?p=2951 [SOURCE]

Doctor Booba,  a jewish female doctor has taken the time to comment about male circumcision.  You can already see where this is going to go.
Last month a German  Court ruled that circumcision of an infant is wrong and those doing it should be punished.  This was after an 4 year old muslim lad had complications.
Well, the jews and the muslims think that circumcision is a good idea, both religions insist on it for religious reason, so you can imagine the outrage from the religious nutters!
It’s worth remembering that boys have died from complications with circumcision.  Remember the lad in New York who had his penis slurped on as part of the ceremony, only to contract herpes from a dirty mouth and die.  That alone is sufficient reason to get religion out of circumcision.
cut me

You’ll only feel a small prick

And religion is what it’s all about.  The deity that called itself The Almighty insisted the Abram lop his foreskin off. So, The Almighty Ego promised that he would give land to the now named Abraham.  He promised to make Abraham the father of nations, and that his seed would enjoy the same privilege, oh, and The Almighty Ego promised to be his god.  How kind.

Abraham is told by The Almighty that he will have to keep this agreement, there’s no negotiation and as a token he has to take his foreskin off.  For every newborn baby boy, on the 8th day the foreskin will have to be cut off.
Abraham is clearly so excited by all of this that the 90 year old then cuts his own dick and goes on to do that same to all the men within his household.  How crazed do you have to be?  Suddenly your father and master is cutting your foreskin off.
Back to the Booba.  Let’s look at what she’s written in her blog:
Of course, this criminalization of male circumcision affects Jews as well.
No it doesn’t, it effects 8 day old boys only. They’re the ones that don’t get a say in the process.
Therefore I personally think that this ruling will not hold up because the Muslims will protest and nobody wants a Muslim protest!  Imagine all the burning Mercedes-Benzes and Audis and the loss of Ordnung in the street. Unconscionable.
What a load of rubbish!  Is The Booba is actually suggesting that there will be riots in the streets and that this will force the decision to be overturned?
So I would think that, ironically, it will probably be the Muslims who will save the day so the Jews will be able to continue a 3,000-year-old practice which is so dangerous, that Jews are still around. So traumatizing to the helpless infant that Jews still win more Nobel Prizes than anyone else.
Umm… ok.  So, because the traumatised boy doesn’t recall the cutting off of his foreskin it’s ok to continue?  I’d suggest that if the age of circumcision was moved to 18 and the young man was given a choice, he’d say no.  Why?  Because the idea of cutting anything off your body is a disturbing thought.  Our tackle is carefully guarded because to injure it is a truly frightening prospect.  The religious nutters have to resort to doing it at 8 days after birth, because they know full well that a grown up man would not think it was a good idea at all.  Interestingly enough, people win Nobel Prizes regardless of the state of their penis.  It’s also interesting to note that most jewish children don’t go on to win Nobel Prizes.  Or Logie awards for that matter.
Yes, it is so dangerous that, in Africa, adult males are clamoring to be circumcised as it has been shown to be effective against the transmission of HIV.
Well no.  I don’t think that any uncircumcised male would be clamoring to have his foreskin cut off.  You didn’t think that through very well.  Jews love to use this as proof that they’re right.  To them the fact that a small study in Africa vindicates their desire to circumcise little boys.
Yes, yes, I know what the issues are here; it’s about harming a child who has no ability to consent to a non-medically necessary procedure. Even if his parents request the procedure, even if the operator is a doctor. The issue is also about the transcendence of the Body over the Soul. Now, where have I heard that before? Oh yes, the Ancient Greeks. And the Romans.  And the Soviets. And where are they today?
Here The Booba seems to be suggesting that the Greeks, Romans and Soviets have disappeared because they put the body over that of the soul.  Which seems rather a ridiculous position.  The Greeks and the Romans eventually turned into christian religions who have spread their virus all around the world, and as far as I know the Soviets still have their nuclear weapons pointed our way.
I know that this topic tends to generate more heat than light when it is argued. There are comparisons made to female genital mutilation, which is already illegal in Germany and other countries, as if the two procedures could be remotely compared in outcomes and effects on the child’s future. As if there is a skerrick of evidence that FGM had any positive outcomes either! Not a one, only damage to girls for no reason except ‘to protect their honour’, whatever that is construed to mean. Whereas male circumcision sometimes needs to be done for medical reasons –which IS allowed under this German ruling – and can protect against HIV, for example, female genital mutilation has only negative effects on girls and women, no matter how small the cut or what is or isn’t excised or stitched up. So making both male circumcision and FGM illegal serves to lump them together in a most unfair and disingenuous way.
Right now I’m shaking my head.  The similarities are justified, whether or male or female, having your genitals mutilated for any reason is wrong.  There is no doubt that sometimes the foreskin needs to be removed for medical reasons.  The claim that it protects against HIV is simply wrong and to suggest that it be done just in case is akin to suggesting that big toes be removed because the toe nail may become ingrown.  A woman is quick to deny the mutilation of her own bits while defending the right to mutilate the bits of males.  How rude.
The Brit Milah is an eternal covenant between G-d and the Jews. Now, G-d could have thought of other ways to make a covenant, I guess. If it has to be seared into the flesh, why not a piercing or a tattoo? I’m no Talmid Chochom or mystic, and I sure don’t know the mind of G-d, but it seems to me that the foreskin is accessible and expendable.
Expendable? How would you know?  The foreskin is a protective layer of skin.  It protects the man’s penis.  You a woman think it’s expendable?  The concept of circumcision was a token to a covenant that The Almighty Ego appears to have broken. Why do jews continue to pretend otherwise?
, but more, the penis represents the propagation of the Jewish people as well as the source of pleasure for Man. With great privilege comes great responsibility! How amazing is that, that the source of these two vital – literally, ‘vital’ pertaining to ‘vitum’, life force – functions has this little removable turtleneck!
No, the foreskin is not removable, any more than your ears are.  It’s not like there’s a little zip.  To remove the foreskin you have to cut with a very sharp knife.  There’s blood and much crying.
So what about doing this procedure on a child who is unable to give legal consent? Whose parents, despite the fact that they take the baby for immunizations without consent, and force the child to go to school, and make a child eat broccoli, certainly without consent, and are thus in charge of the child’s welfare, both spiritual and physical- suddenly have no legal or moral authority to have their son circumcised.
Last time I checked immunizations are done for the welfare of the child and the community at large.  Not so with circumcision.  As far as I know parents feed their children broccoli because it’s good for them and helps them grow, not so with circumcision.  Education is vital and important to live in our modern society, not so with circumcision.  Neither education, immunisation or food require the removal of a sensitive piece of skin.
Suddenly, despite a 3,000 year tradition which has such enormous power and meaning, and no doubt has contributed to the continued existence of the Jews, is illegal. Suddenly The Rights Of The Child To Have An Intact And Perfect Body And Not Have Anything Done With Which He Cannot Consent, is sacrosanct. As a result of a ruling in a German court. I find this a little ironic on several levels.
There is no enormous power derived from cutting the foreskin.  Whether or not it contributes to the ongoing existence of the jewish culture is debatable.  There are of course a whole range of traditions that have gone by the wayside of the last 3,000 years.
It was the Jews, after all, who, under G-d’s command, abhorred Avodah Zara, idol worship, including the worship of Moloch, which involved mothers sacrificing their children by throwing them into the idol’s fiery maw and burning them alive. It was the Jews who came up with the whole idea of ‘Choosing Life’, and ‘He who saves a single life, it is as if he has saved the whole world’ and that ‘Man is a microcosm’ and ‘Man is created in the image of G-d.’ It sure wasn’t the Enlightened Germans who ran with that ball. But I digress.
Really?  So you think that because a little bit of skin is cut off the jews have some sort of special place in the world?  Are you suggesting that non jewish mothers think it’s ok to throw their children into the fire to be burned alive?  This coming from a faith that messed with Abraham by having The Almighty Ego attempt to get him to sacrifice his own son and burn him as an offering.  The same god that killed all the first born in Egypt based only on the splash of blood on the door posts.  So much for choosing and saving life.
Brit Milah may seem like a minor procedure performed on a minor, but it’s of major importance. And the Jews will find a way to continue the eternal covenant. We always have.
Circumcision is a minor procedure that has a major impact on boys.  The fact that grown up jews find a way to keep this going is a demonstration of the arrogance of religion.  And lets face it, the requirement to circumcise is based on one man, that we have no evidence every existed, that thought that The Almighty Ego was going to give him land and make nations out of his descendants.  In his zeal he not only took a knife and cut his own foreskin off,  a questionable feat, he did the same to his 13 year old son and then to all of the other men in his household.
In 2012 such men would be rightly locked up.

The Truth at last! There is no god! http://www.brucellama.com/2011/11/15/the-truth-at-last-there-is-no-god/ http://www.brucellama.com/2011/11/15/the-truth-at-last-there-is-no-god/#comments Mon, 14 Nov 2011 22:00:53 +0000 http://www.brucellama.com/?p=2402 The world is full of gods, they’re everywhere. Look at this list of gods and pick one to follow.  I just did. My god today is Latiaran.  From now on I’ll be the llama wearing a burning apron and admiring my feet.

People like Billy Muehlenberg believe this:

Every single one of us either worships the one, true, living God, or we worship something else.

Get that, you have to worship something, if not Latiaran, then something else.  It’s inconceivable that you don’t worship something. Up until a few minutes ago, I had no idea that I had to worship something.

Although, Bill’s version of god is pretty good, you see a man lost his wife’s ring in rubbish, so he went to tip and had to dig through rotting piles of smelly refuse.  It was so bad that he threw up:

Brian McGuinn stopped and said a prayer. As he opened his eyes, he spotted a familiar shower cap and conditioner bottle.

Well look at that, all his scratching in the rubbish he at last found something from his place, but no luck with the ring, so off he went looking some more and will you look at that, he’s prayer paid off!

But when he pulled his sludge-covered hand from the pile, McGuinn let out a Tarzan-like yell.

Well praise that god!

I, of course, don’t believe a word of that mumbo jumbo, clearly it is Latiaran who saved the day.

There’s lots of problems with this supernatural thing, while god is helping Brian find a ring that he carelessly dropped in the rubbish, he wasn’t protecting the 31 year old church leader and Sunday school teacher. Beshoy Bishai was collected by a 4WD and died.  That’s the problem with the christian god, he’s too busy helping people find rings in the rubbish.

All religions are made up.  Just look at this whole notion of the parallels between the Egyptian god, Horus and Jesus.  Nobody wants the other side to be right, so we have this rather confusing view that looks like the Jesus story is based on an earlier religion.

The jews believe that the tower of Babel was about to reach their god in heaven, so god destroyed it and make them all speak a different language so they couldn’t get reach him.

Christians (and Horus followers) believe that god sacrificed himself (jesus) to himself (god), and rose three days later (jesus) and then he (holy spirit) taught people to talk in foreign languages.

The muslims believe that a stone fell from heaven, and now they have to face it five times a day and pray. The stone was intended to show Adam and Eve where to build an altar.   When they visit the stone, they kiss it, or if they can’t kiss it, they point to it as the walk around the stone seven times.

The Norse thought that Odin was their chief god, it is said that Odin appeared riding on Sleipnir in a battle against the Danes in 1208. He positioned himself in front of the Swedish battle formation. He led the Swedish charge and gave them victory.

The jews and christians think that their god flooded the world and killed everyone but those on a great big boat with two of every kind of animal on it.  Mind you,  the ancient Greeks, Egyptians, Romans, Chinese and Native American’s all thought the same thing about a great flood.

In 1830, Joseph Smith got a message from god and founded the church of jesus christ of latter day saint.  He claimed that jesus had visited the American continent while he was suppose be dead.

L Ron Hubbard started Scientology in 1952.  Claiming that a bunch of souls had been dropped into volcanoes and we are now infected with those spirits.

The guys at the Christian Democrat Party at their AGM said this:

We have the truth but must speak it in love.

BIlly says this:

The war against truth has been going on for some time now.

The scientologist say this:

The ultimate goal of Scientology is true spiritual enlightenment and freedom for all.

In 2000 the then head of the catholic church, John Paul II said this:

affirms the Catholic Church’s teaching that it is the “one, true Church of Jesus Christ.

They can’t all be right, can they?  How many versions of the truth are there?

If you want to know why I don’t believe in anything supernatural.  There it is.  There isn’t a single shred of truth in any of the ramblings of religious people.   It’s a delusions that we’ve evolved with.  If you can discount any one of the versions of the truth, how can you be so certain that you have the real version?   Millions of people believe in scientology, christianity, judaism, islam and plenty of other gods who have faded into the background of human history.

There, to be perfectly blunt, is no god, goddess or gods.

I understand that I don’t know everything, I understand that you can believe whatever you like.  I know I can’t prove that there is no god, and I even admit the possibility that I may be wrong.   There may be a god, but I don’t believe that.

When you can prove to me that Latiaran doesn’t exist, then we can use the same process to show you that your god doesn’t exist.

Wallace and ANZAC Day 2011 http://www.brucellama.com/2011/04/26/wallace-and-anzac-day-2011/ http://www.brucellama.com/2011/04/26/wallace-and-anzac-day-2011/#comments Mon, 25 Apr 2011 15:07:25 +0000 http://www.brucellama.com/?p=1957 Jim Wallace is the ‘Managing Director’ of the Australian Christian Lobby.  He picked ANZAC day to tweet this:

Just hope that as we remember Servicemen and women today we remember the Australia they fought for – wasn’t gay marriage and Islamic!

The trouble with doing this on Twitter is that people notice, and before you know it, a simple tweet goes viral and everyone is after you.

Just have a look at Gladly The Cross Eyed Bear to see some of the responses.

No doubt there were gays in the general Australian population back then too – there were muslims living here too.  The ANZACs probably didn’t fight for the right of some multi-nationals to dig up our resources, or for some media-moguls to own large chunks of our media, or for women to have equal rights, or for cancer research or for a thousand other things.  But Wallacey mate, you go for the sure vote winners – you pick on the gays and the muslims because you know that you’ll pick a fight and get your big flat nose in the papers.  You fuckwit.

Once Wallace saw the responses what did he do?  Well, he apologised!

Ok you are right my apologies this was the wrong context to raise these issues. ANZACs mean too much to me to demean this day, not intended

You’ll find plenty of commentary about the whole issue out there on the net – go Google.  At the very least you should read Rod Swift’s blog on it, and have a look at the original tweets there too.

Then we have the fundamentalists all upset because the ‘militant’ gay lobby jumped on it.  They cry about free speech being silenced.  Ignoring the fact that it is this very notion that not only allows Wallace to say stupid things in public, but allows people to have a counter point of view.

Bill Vileandspew says this:

Just as soon as anyone dares to express himself about any hot potato topic of the day, you can expect all the usual lobby groups to instantly engage in a hate campaign to silence the person.

I don’t think anyone has tried to ‘silence’ Wallace at all, and you’d hardly call it a hate campaign, just having a different point of view.  If anything the other ‘lobby’ groups actually took issue with Wallace and his inane comments.  You know, they exercised their right to free speech.

Instead of living in a democracy where various points of view can be freely heard, we are instead living in a PC state where it is becoming increasingly risky to dare say anything that will rock the PC agendas. The homosexual lobby is clearly the most Stalinist in this regard. They will tolerate absolutely no dissent from their radical agenda.

Oh please Billy, stop trying to silence those that disagree with you.  Your radical christian fundamental attitudes really are quite dull, and you most certainly don’t want anyone to express anything other than your version of the ‘truth’.

Wallace is in a position of assumed power, he has the Government and the Opposition giving him credence by pandering to his ‘un-Australian’ attitudes.  Gillard the PM claims to have traditional values, I wonder if these values, that include the concept of marriage for one man and one woman only, now extend to the traditional values of the time of the ANZACS, you know, women stayed at home and did the baby making and the dishes, not allowed to have opinions or pop into the pub for a drink.

ANZAC day has become an important day to remember those who died in war, those brave men and women who were killed in conflict.  It’s not a time for anyone to try and hijack it for their own cheap political stunts by demonising sections of the community that they find distasteful based solely on their notion of a sky fairy that has been inept at preventing so much death and destruction in a world.  This dumb-arsed god thing could have prevented the devastating loss of life in World Word I and II – but no.  And why did he not step in to prevent it?  It’s because there is no god, the Wallaces of this world have no right to continue to use their positions to abuse those people who they think are sinners.

Wallace has removed the offending tweet from Twitter, and went on to release a media statement in which he says:

I believe in and value ANZAC Day and our veterans too much to have ever intended a slight on the day, and apologise unreservedly for having even tweeted the thought on this day, it was not my intent to see it used this way

But Jimmy dearest, what about apologising to the others that you attacked?  The muslims and the gays.  The ones who aren’t worth fighting for.  The ones that you clearly think aren’t worthy of protection in Australia.  Your apology means nothing, nothing at all.

Into Battle http://www.brucellama.com/2011/01/29/into-battle/ Sat, 29 Jan 2011 06:55:27 +0000 http://www.brucellama.com/?p=1796 [SOURCE]

Bill Muehlenberg is a rich source of topics for me.  Plenty of blogs about him.  He’s about as right-wing as they come and actually believes his own shit.

He thinks that the world is a battlefield, for god, and he is one of his god’s warriors, out there, knee deep in battle, for the lord!

Now that dick has really shown how incredibly stupid his religion is by comparing the real life battles, where people really die to his imagined battle with the devil.

Corporal Ben Roberts-Smith is a real hero.  In Afghanistan he stood in front of bullets, shot the enemy dead and saved his mates.  He put his life on the line.  Reading his story itself was enough to make this Llama excrete smelly stuff from the rear end.

And this is a real life battle we are talking about, people on both sides are dying, and they’re doing it to counter the Taliban and reduce their influence on the world.  Regardless of your politics, the Australian soldiers need our support.

Me mate Silly Billy quite likes this quote from Corporal Roberts-Smith:

I saw my mates getting ripped up, so I decided to move forward. I wasn’t going to sit there and do nothing.

Yes, I agree with him, but then Bill says this:

I quite like that. Not only is it a great attitude to have in the field of combat, but it applies much more widely. I am thinking here about the Christian life. The Bible consistently portrays the believer’s life as one of battle, warfare, and constant fighting.

You actually want to compare your imagined battle with the real battle going on about you?  You tosser.

Consider some of the many external threats we face:

  • False religions
  • Attacks by unbelievers
  • Secularist crusades
  • Cultic invasions
  • Moral and cultural challenges
  • Various assaults on the Christian faith
  • “The world, the flesh and the devil”

Or if you belong to some fundamental Islamic tradition, say the Taliban, this is what they say:

Consider some of the many external threats we face:

  • False religions
  • Attacks by unbelievers
  • Secularist crusades
  • Cultic invasions
  • Moral and cultural challenges
  • Various assaults on the Islamic faith
  • “The world, the flesh and the devil”

Hang on a minute… wait on… that’s the same.

These are just a few of the battlefields that we find ourselves in. Every day we are engaged in some sort of battle, some sort of attack or some sort of assault. And the casualties are high and continue to mount. All around us we find believers who are burnt out or worn down or fed up.

Billy Baby, these are not battlefields, there are no bullets, nobody is actually dying.  The attacks are not physical, the assaults are not physical.  There are no casualties.  It’s a disgusting analogy to make, and makes a mockery of the brave work of the forces engaged in daily real-life threatening situations.

Every day pastors around the world are giving up the ministry. They have had enough. They are sick of all the criticism and ingratitude and abuse.

You make it sound like a bad thing.  There’s a reason that they get criticism and abuse, it’s because your religion is self-serving imagined crap and unworthy of respect.  And as for the ingratitude.. what’s to be grateful about?  Religion is used by people like you to control and influence people.  You reek of ingratitude when it comes to the efforts of our military forces and your attempt to cheapen the work they do is reprehensible.

Every day believers are being shot down in defeat or discouragement or immorality or pride or worldliness or liberal theology or men-pleasing, etc.

Oh, for fuck sake, do you make this twaddle up?  Get a grip man, oh, hang on, perhaps your grip is too tight.

All over the battle field our brothers and sisters are fallen, tied down, outgunned and overwhelmed.

Just what sort of senseless analogy is this Billy Saggy Baggy?  What a horrid image you draw and then you dare to compare that to real life battles where people have fallen, have been tied down, outgunned and overwhelmed.

All over the world Christians are wounded, under attack, outnumbered, or putting up the white flag of surrender. But the most tragic reality of all is that many believers do not even know we are in a battle.

Jesus fucking christ, what a fucking cunty attitude that is.  This is truly an unbelievable attitude to have and the imagery you are trying to provoke and use as a method of showing just how hard you poor little fucking sucky christians have it is tasteless and just plain pathetic.

While you’re whining about how bad things are for the true believer, those on the other side are saying the same thing.  You are no better than the Taliban, and other religious extremists.

I am truly disgusted, but not surprised.  May your front lawn be subjected to great amounts of alpaca poo.  Best get the gumboots outs.

Blasphemy is crazy shit http://www.brucellama.com/2011/01/22/blasphemy-is-crazy-shit/ Sat, 22 Jan 2011 00:45:32 +0000 http://www.brucellama.com/?p=1742 [SOURCE]

I wrote about the crazy situation in Pakistan here where a woman is to be stoned to death because of some stupid blasphemy charge.

Then a Pakistani governor was gunned down by his own body guard because he spoke out against the blasphemy laws.

The country has been in uproar!  You’d think that the citizens would be out in the street decrying the outright murder, but no.  They think that the body guard is a hero.  How insane is that?

Now the Prime Minister has stated quite clearly that his government has no intention of changing the blasphemy laws.

Islam is screwy and unbalanced.  The religion causes great harm and its people take offence at mere words that don’t hurt anyone.  The response of the citizens of Pakistan shows the danger of religion in our world, and it’s yet again a clear indication of the full extent of harm that it causes.

Even pope bendydick, glad in his pure white marvels, thinks that Pakistan should repeal the laws.  Of course, bendydick is only concerned about his flock being stoned, he really doesn’t give a flying toss about anyone else and probably thinks that blasphemy should be punished if a muslim says something nice about the stick-hanging jesus.

Crazy.

Blasphemy! http://www.brucellama.com/2011/01/02/blasphemy/ http://www.brucellama.com/2011/01/02/blasphemy/#comments Sat, 01 Jan 2011 23:54:57 +0000 http://www.brucellama.com/?p=1669 [SOURCE]
It’s about 13.5 billion years since we started spinning around the sun, and still we have people being stoned in Pakistan for blasphemy!

How fucking crazy and stupid is that?

On Friday there was a general strike to protest any move to remove the blasphemy laws from the books.  That’s right, people went on strike to ensure they retain the right to kill someone for uttering the name of their pathetic god and prophet in vain.

Blasphemy isn’t a crime.  Nobody gets hurt.  Really.  And no, it’s not a matter of respect.  There is no reason to kill anyone just because they say something you disagree with, and there certainly is no excuse for terminating someone’s life by stoning.  That’s cruel and barbaric.

It’s time to bring pressure to bare.  The Pakistani Government is too scared to act, least it loose power, this then allows the people to enjoy lording it over non-muslims by accusing them of blasphemy, it’s really crazy shit.

In fiery speeches across all major cities and towns, religious leaders warned the government on Friday against altering the law, which carries a mandatory death sentence for anyone convicted of insulting Islam.

Democracy will falter, we’ll end up with another fundamentalist regime, hellbent on imposing more stupid islamic laws that just make no sense.

If your god, if any god, has trouble with the way he is spoken about, then let that god show it by taking some action….. wait for thunder bolts and lightening….. waiting…. oh, nothing.  Zip.  A big fat zero.  There is no god, blasphemy is crap and we should not deal with any country that inflicts this upon their people.

There is no god.

There is no allah.

Mohammed is a crock of shit, nothing but a goat fucker, jesus (if he existed) was just a dirty jewish boy roaming around the middle east causing trouble and Joseph Smith1 was a wanker of the highest order getting drunk and pretending to have visions.

Blasphemy is a capital offence in Pakistan.

They want to hang a woman because she said bad things about an imaginary god.

She’s married.

Has 5 children.

Her family is in hiding.

Why is there even a question about whether or not she deserves the death penalty?  This is stupid, stupid, stupid.  More stupid than a bunch of randy alpacas pretending to be llamas.

Nobody gets hurt by blasphemy.  Allah doesn’t get so pissed off that he causes floods.  Jesus doesn’t get so pissed off that he causes earthquakes, god doesn’t get so pissed off that he cause tsunamis.  That just doesn’t happen.

And as if these great deities of our own invention aren’t big and brave enough to smote those that they have a problem with.

Stupid bullshit crap.
