The Woolies Logo

The logos

The logos

[SOURCE]

So Woolworths, big Australian supermarket chain has a new logo.  All very nice.  Looks like a stylised W or even an apple peel.  There’s the problem, it looks like an apple.  Apple, those guys who make neat computers, don’t like that.  They’re worried you might get confused.  I’m not at all sure why.

And… what do you do when you’re not happy and can’t get your own way.  Why you take legal action.

I hope the judge throws them out of the court room.

Apple:  Judge – Woolworths have stolen our logo
Judge:  Don’t be so stupid – get out of my fucking court room

It’s a petty ridiculous issue.  This crappy notion that your brand needs protection is corporate madness.  Why the hell should it be taking up important court time.  I’m sure that the legal system has enough to be getting on with.

Here’s an idea, instead of taking legal action, why not work out how much it will cost to run that action and don’t do that, instead reduce the price of the groceries or computers, or even better, pay your staff a bit more.

I always love it when our big corporates have a tif, it takes our minds of the real problems.

It’s OK when the logo looks even vaguely like the complainants, but you’d have to be pretty far gone in the head to mistake that apple peel for the good wholesome fruit.

    What a bunch of knobs.
