I get mail, no really, I do.

The fact that people don’t really understand what the blog is about is beside the point

Dear Sir/Madam,

I’m Miriam Stefania, web manager of the official website of World Youth Day 2011 Madrid.

Feel free to contact me with any question about WYD 2011.

Best wishes,
Miriam

How could we forget the World Blow Jesus for the Day here in Australia?  I blogged on it plenty of times1  The pope came to town, we had stupid laws passed to tell us how to behave… and it costs us squillions.

So, off you go then, go check out jesus for the youth, it’ll get your juices flowing.

And next time Miriam, give some thought to who you’re sending your fucking stupid inane requests too.  Why don’t you do something useful with your life, instead of wasting your time thinking about how to extract money out of poor unsuspecting youth to contribute to the coffers of a church that’s all ready way to big.   They don’t need special crosses and icons, they need an understanding of life without your silly fairy tales.

True dinks.

Late at night

Main St Rosstown

Main St Rosstown

Now look, as I was coming home from grazing in the paddocks yesterday with the Love Llama, we turned down the main street and found that on the left side of the road we could do 40 km/h on the right side we could do 60 km/h – now being the sensible sorts of llama’s that we are, and as tempting as it was to drive on the right side of the road in a ‘drive on the left’ country we opted to take a photo.

Now I’m off to eat my seeds and nuts.

Adoption for all

Saturday, September 4, 2010 at 8:04 pm

[SOURCE]

The New South Wales parliament has passed a bill allowing same-sex couples to adopt.  And it’s about bloody time.

Predictably the wankers are out in force, using the same old tired arguments, you know, what about the rights of the child, the child has a right to a mother and a father, children do best when their parents are married and opposite and on and on they go.

Of course, the bit that they continually neglect to mention is that they’re religious fuck knuckles.  They think that homosexuality is wrong.  There’s a stress in their lives and when they talk about the rights of the child, they don’t really give a flying fuck about those rights, it’s a device they use to hide behind, because what’s really driving them to distraction is that they think god won’t like what’s happening.

This is despite the fact that their god has done fuck all since he created the universe.  He seems rather, well, dead.

The christians fucktards float around the idea that there are an ‘overwhelming’ amount of research that indicates that children ‘fare’ better when they are in a heterosexual parenting household.  It’s even better if the parents are married.

That’s nice.

One right-wing wingnut – Bill Muehlenberg has his knickers in such a twist that he actually thinks the world is on the brink of disaster.  And guess what?  It’d be the gays who are to blame.

In a piece on Online Opinion he talks about how children have a natural birthright to a mother and father.  I’m not sure where the notion of natural birthright comes from, and as far as I know you still need a mother and a father.  I think what he’s getting at is that if you are going to have children then their mother and father should be the custodians.  He uses phrases like ‘radical social experiment’ and a claim:

“The emotional appeals of homosexuals and their own selfish adult demands must be balanced by the interests of the child, and the right of every child to be raised by a mother and a father.”

Emotional appeals? Selfish adult demands?

I think, and this is of course a Llama opinion that you are all entitled too, that people generally want children, sexuality is no barrier for this desire.  All adults are selfish in this regard, no matter what their sexuality, most of us like the idea of having a child, it’s an instinct that drives the human race (and I suspect most other species).  The need to have children is a selfish, inexplicable need that most of us have.  Nobody thinks “I’m going to have a child because I’m in a relationship with a member of the opposite sex”  it’s more likely to be “let’s have children because it’ll be fun and make us happy and my friends have already started”.  This whole notion that somehow only gay people have children for selfish reasons is very short-sighted and crap really.

And what of the right to be raised by a mother and father?  What’s that about really?  Who made up that rule?  I rather suspect Bill made it up.

I agree that children have a right to a safe environment to grow up in.  People like Bill the Maulenberg have it in their minds that the gay lot are evil people.  This is his starting position.  Nothing they want or do can be, in his mind, conceived as being good.

This is despite the fact that his ‘research’ says something along the lines that ‘children do better’ in a straight married family.  They also do better if they live in an affluent suburb, if their parents are rich, if they go to a private school, if daddy has connections for future employment, if mummy can drive a 4WD to soccer practice, if a Liberal governement is in power, if they know the local priest, if they get good grades at school, if they find a fish in their gumboot, if they can tie their pubic hair in knots.

Nobody is suggesting these things.  Nobody says that unless you are employed, in a stable relationship and have the ability to provide top notch money for your offspring, that you can actually have children.

In fact, plenty of children in this world are actually born to parents who are married, but are also poor.  Can’t afford to send the kids to a good school, there may also be issues of lack of food, lack of accommodation, lack of stability.  Nobody says that they can’t have children,  In fact, even if it was somehow mandated, they would still breed.

But Bill Mule-head wants to ignore all of this, it doesn’t even get a mention.  And why not?  I suspect that it’s because of the other things that his article doesn’t mention.  He’s a die-hard christian who thinks that christ is on his way back and he won’t be very happy.  He thinks that god hates fags and we’re all going to be punished.

Gay couples are able to, can do, and will continue to raise children.  What our society needs is proper support of families raising children, regardless of the situation of the parents.  We need proper education, we need proper wages and tax benefits for families.  Not for any stupid religious reasons, but because being a child isn’t the fault of the child, they are at the mercy of the world that they abruptly find themselves in.  They are also our future, we owe it to them to help them grow and develop.

When Bill Fishbrain starts being honest about the real reasons why he posts dribble, then perhaps we can take him seriously, until then, he’s as bad as a rabid alpaca that got shorn before the first snow of the season.

War is expensive

Wednesday, September 1, 2010 at 10:54 pm

[SOURCE]

Mr Obama acknowledged in his 18-minute address that America’s seven-year commitment in Iraq had been at huge cost – in terms of human lives and resources. The war’s bill is currently $US1 trillion.

Sorry, how much was that?  a trillion… how much is that really. Sounds like a lot to me.

$1 trillion.

You’re joking aren’t you, how could you spend so much money.  Couldn’t you just stay at home a throw them half a trillion and be done with it?

That’s just staggering.

As expected, Mr Obama praised the valour of America’s military, men and women who had served “at every turn . . . with courage and sacrifice”. More than 4400 Americans had given their lives to help “the Iraqi people seek the light of peace”.

“Like all Americans, I am awed by their sacrifice, and by the sacrifices of their families.”

Of the mission, Mr Obama insisted: “We have sent our young men and women to make enormous sacrifices in Iraq, and spent vast resources abroad at a time of tight budgets at home.

Not a trillion dead, at least not on the US side, but again what a staggering number.  Not to mention the tens of thousands injured and not to mention the deaths on the other side.

And what’s to be in awe of?  I know that people have died.  But they just did their job.  You sent them to war (well, not you, but the previous you – Bush) and they got killed.  The didn’t want to get killed, but they did.

This is just ridiculous, why do we have to fight like this?

War is stupid.

A trillion dollars indeed.

Run the Alpacas Outta Town

Monday, August 16, 2010 at 10:10 pm

It’s election time in Australia, and I’m busy chasing down some alpacas that need to be encouraged to see the world my way.

It’s a tough job, but someone has to do it.

So, I’m still here, never fear!

Election 2010

Monday, July 19, 2010 at 7:27 pm

So, lets get to all the important bits for this years Federal Election.

Tony Abbott was confronted by a man wearing speedos while he was on the campaign trail at the Knox Shopping Centre.  That shows true grit and determination, it’s bloody cold out in Knox.

The photos sort of show poor Tony being shielded from they guy, some burly security guard is keeping him at bay.  Mind you, I don’t know why anyone would want to get too close to the Rabbit, and perhaps he might have felt a bit threatened should the speedo wearing dude be gay.  Or just maybe the Rabbit sneaked a peek when he thought no one was looking, not that it would have been worthwhile, on account on it being so cold and all.

Election called.

Sunday, July 18, 2010 at 8:19 pm

The voters in Australia will be forced to go and vote at an election in a few of weeks.  Forced, because if we don’t vote we get fined.

Yesterday the Prime Minister of Australia went to visit the Governor General of Australia, both women and I’m sure they were moist as they sat down to talk about having an election.  Nipples standing on edge no doubt.  Which is probably unusual, it’s normally men sitting cross-legged trying to hide their raging boners as they discuss such things.

Anyway, what’s been missing in the Australian system is a party that isn’t beholden to religion. Until now.  Just recently the Secular Party of Australia has been registered, and guess what, they’re standing at this election!  At last a bunch of people who want to get rid of stupid laws that allow governments to fund religion.

I’ve been saying for ages that we need to tax the bastards, we need to stop our leaders from taking part in debates organised by religion.  We need to shut up people like Cardinal Hell who has way to much influnence in the political sphere.

And here it is.

So, that’s the Greens and the Seculars who get my vote this time around.  No pandering to the religious nutters, equality for all Australians, protection for the environment and at last, pollies that won’t get moist and hard at the thought of all the power they will wield…. I think.

Still not getting it

Sunday, July 18, 2010 at 6:38 pm

[SOURCE]

Over at the blog, Galus Australis, Mark Baker has written a delightful piece on a recent trip to Germany.  He explains how he and his students found a monument and inside the monument was an image of two men kissing.

During World War II, gay people, as well as jews and others were rounded up and killed by the nazis.  This was a stark reminder of those times gone by.

Mark talks about how the laws that contributed to the murder of gay people stayed in place long after the war.  He questions how we continue to let that sort of discrimination happen.

It is indeed telling that even today hatred and discrimination abounds around the world for gay people.  The comments still reflect this pathetic notion that while the torah/bible prohibits homosexuality, and it can never be approved of, we have to tolerate them.

Religion gets in the way of freedom of others.  Sure, you can believe whatever you like, but you may not use your faith, your religion, to restrict the freedom of others.

Religion is so fucked up, that prohibiting anything in our society based on it’s texts, it’s rules, is flawed.

Some of the respondents still use religion as a weapon to hide behind.  They spout all the right things, but refuse to see that their words, their faith, still creates an environment that breeds hate and distrust of gay people.  Their god still permits the religious to  cause great emotional stress to gay people of faith, just look at how the current pope talks about us:

The homosexual inclination is however ‘objectively disordered’ and homosexual practices are ‘sins gravely contrary to chastity’.

and there are still pockets in the jewish tradition that think it’s possible to convert to heterosexuality.

The accusation of having a closed mind whips around the chat forums, people accusing each other of being closed minded.  Time and time again I’m suprised at how easily those who are silly enough to believe in a rather stupid notion of god are prepared to throw science out the window and accuse those that want to use it as being closed minded.

Here it is for you again, there is no god, there is no reason to treat gay people as second class citizens, there is no reason to deny marriage equality to all Australians.

Take your god and shove his head in a bucket of warm cow shit and tell him to inhale deeply.  Get it?

If you look the long way

Sunday, July 18, 2010 at 5:22 pm

[SOURCE]

When you are a muslim, you should pray to your god at least five times a day.  Makes me wonder how they have time to do anything else.

And when you pray, you have to face Mecca, because that’s what the prophet did.  Imagine the consternation of the Indonesians when they discovered that for all these years, they’ve been facing the wrong way!

So if you’re in that part of the world, stop facing Africa and look a little more to the north-west, otherwise your prayers may well miss their mark.

If you have trouble determining which way to bend your arse towards god, check out Wikipedia.

More examples of the really stupid nature of religion and how easy it is to get distracted with the unimportant things and ignore all the things you should be attending to, like education, poverty and general health and well being.

Thanks to 1minionsopinion for the tip!

Just pick the right bits

Sunday, July 11, 2010 at 11:05 pm

The holy babble is full of things to do.  Christians in particular are really good at just picking out the bits they want and leaving the nasty stuff alone.

Oh no, they say, all that nasty stuff, before jesus was born of the BVM, doesn’t count anymore.  This jesus we are lead to believe is the son of god, and, depending on who you listen to is in fact god, so therefore, all that stuff in the old book of the bible is his rules too.  Pretty nasty bit of work the ole jc, just like his old man, who is his father, but not sexually, but also he is his own father because they are the same person, but split, one of them died as a sacrifice for the sins of the people to appease the other one, but yet they are the same one.

And people believe this?

Here’s a good short video of the bible – shows just how stupid and inane it is.  Our morality can not be derived from this hateful book that is cherry picked for the good bits only….
